Adult & Family Ministries

Choir

Choir rehearses each Sunday morning immediately following the morning service in the Choir Room (Sept-April).  Choir sings one or two Sundays a month, during the worship service.  Choir is for men and women, high school age and up, who desire to praise God through singing.

Church Life

Do you feel there are many people you don't know or that don't know you?  Come join us in some of the many Church Life activities throughout the year.  Take that first step to reach out to others, or catch up with some old friends.  Relax and have a great time getting to know your brothers and sisters at First Byron.

Congregational Prayer Meeting

Come together on Wednesday evenings to pray on a variety of topics.  Begins at 7:00pm.

Caregivers Support Goup

A ministry to provide a safe place to come together with others who are experiencing similar caregiving challenges to share, support and draw strength from each other on our journeys. This group uses God's words, his promises, songs, and prayers to remind ourselves "He is with us always."

Grief Share

Grief Share is a support group that meets weekly for twelve weeks.  You'll find it to be a warm, caring environment and will come to see your group as an "oasis" on your long journey through grief.

Kids Hope

This is for adults who are interested in building a loving friendship one-on-one with a child at Brown Elementary School.  Time commitment is one hour per week.  Prayer partners are also needed to support mentors.  No experience is necessary, just a desire to share God's love with a child through your actions.  Materials and training are provided.

Dining Out Group

Dining Out is a great way to become better acquainted with others of First Byron Church.  Dining Out groups meet for four months twice a year- August-November and February-May.  Each group has eight people (mix of couples and singles).  Two people of each group start by choosing a restaurant and then a date and time that works for the others.  The group can set up the places and dates for the following three months when they are together.  A new signup each four-month time allows you to opt in or out as your schedule permits and to dine with a new mix of people.

Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry has become an integral way in which Byron Center First CRC reaches out to its members and community to provide one-to-one care giving ministry.  Through Stephen Ministry, a team of church members know as Stephen Ministers, has been equipped with 50 hours of intensive training to provide quality Christian care to people facing a variety of personal crises.  A Stephen Minister is a Christian friend who listens, prays, and shares Christ's love with the bereaved, hospitalized, terminally ill, separated, unemployed, divorced, relocated, and others facing a crisis or life challenge.  Stephen Ministry is a supervised and confidential ministry; those receiving care can be sure that their identity and what goes on in the caring relationship will remain private.

Member Care Ministry

Member Care is a visiting ministry at First Byron where members are showing God's love to members of our church who are being blessed by these visits.  Our volunteers are men, women, and couples encouraging shut-in members that they are loved and not forgotten.  We also want their loved ones to know they are still a part of God's family at First Byron.

Praise Teams

This is for those, high school age and older, who enjoy singing and playing instruments for praise during worship services (some mornings, some evenings).  Leading the congregation in singing, Praise Team members must be worshippers themselves.

Prime Timers

This program is designed for those ages 60+ so they may enjoy Christian fellowship and become better acquainted with fellow church members.  To accomplish this, the Prime Timers committee plans various activities throughout the year.

Small Groups

This is for those desiring a small, caring community within the church.  Each small group convenants to meet at a specific time (once or twice a month, minimum) for a couple of hours to grow together.  Each small group decides what it will study/do together.  Small groups are designed to extend fellowship to new members and grow meaningful relationships with church acquaintances.

Welcome Team

A variety of ways to be involved in the welcoming ministry- greet in the lobby before services, host a coffee in your home, or be paired up with a new household joining our church (you are called a First Responder and help new members assimilate in the life of First Byron).

T'NT

Meets immediately following the morning service in the sanctuary.  Three weeks on, one week off schedule covering Pastor Jean's discipleship training vision.

Valet

Serve those who need assistance by parking cars of those in need at the North entrance on Sunday mornings.

Young Adults

A team of young adults plan events and gatherings to offer opportunities for those in the 19-29 year age range to develop relationships within the church family.
